This year’s biennial competition drew 70 entries from 30 countries. "The Price of Sex" was one of seven finalists. The projects represent some of the world’s best investigative reporting and include stories from Afghanistan and Iraq, Eastern Europe, Africa, Latin America, and the United States. The winners were announced in October at this year’s Global Investigative Journalism Conference in Kyiv, Ukraine. Director Mimi Chakarova was in attendance on behalf of the Dart Center for Journalism & Trauma.

Judge Ginger Thompson of the New York Times was captivated by Chakarova’s documentary: “Her attention to detail and dignity in her portrayals of victims, and the breathtaking courage she showed during her forays into the criminal underworld should serve as the professional standard to which all investigative reporters aspire.”
